It was the second edition of Lux Fashion Week Arlon, Belgium which was held on the 30th September featuring 12 designers.
The first edition was held last year September. Venue for the fashion show was set at an old train station spot, which was transformed into this beautiful setting.
I wanted to share my experience with you guys, so here are a few bits and pieces from the show.
First off, was Luxumbourgish designer Feyrouz Ashoura who had a very distinct and artistic collection, you could say very futuristic. A lot of detailing and I loved the hair and make up of the models. She was one of the best designers to showcase her beautiful pieces, her collection was more of a haute couture.
I modelled for Belgian designer, Marjorie Hinque. She had a more casual collection, however I really liked her colour theme, definitely on trend the burnt orange, gold metallics and faux leather are in for the fall and winter season.
Kathleen Guerisse is another designer whose collection was very theatrical and dramatic. You could say one fit for the theatre, a victorian kind of vibe with a twist.
Lastly, Manon Peuteman. Her collection was a mixture of the classic black and white colours.
You can never go wrong mixing these two colours. There was a lot of detailing to her outfits, such as frills, bell sleeves and collars. She is bang on trend.

Backstage was the usual busy vibe, make-up, wardrobe, hair, gorgeous models and photographers.
However, there needs to be a bit more knowledge in terms of makeup on black skin. I had quite an experience prior to the fashion show, we had a photoshoot and my makeup was very disappointing to say the least.
So, having learnt from that I took my makeup i.e. foundation, blush, concealer and powder for the fashion show. When it was my turn to sit in the chair, I brought out all of my stuff because.
I really wasn’t prepared to look ashy and grey as bad makeup does show on camera.
As much as there is diversity on the runways these days, when it comes to race meaning complexion, I think there is still a long way to go.
Some make-up artist need to enlighten themselves more on different skin tones. There are so many options now for dark skin tones like MAC, and there are several other brands, like Bobbi Brown, Iman cosmetics, L’oreal even has a range for dark skin tones, and so much more today.
It’s really not a nice experience having to constantly look in the mirror to make sure your makeup is on point and having to worry when you are getting it done.
Meanwhile, the white girl sits comfortably without having to worry when her makeup is been done.
Why so??
I remember top sudanese model Nykhor Paul, wrote about this on Instagram.
Anyway, we got there in the end but still yet, it could have been better in my opinion.
However, not withstanding the hiccups with the make-up, overall it was a nice show and the atmosphere was great.
Looking forward to the next fashion season!
